Bernice Perzel, MSN, CDP, CADDCT, RN
Bernice Perzel has 30 rewarding years of experience as a Registered Nurse serving the geriatric population. She has clinically practiced in hospitals, long term care facilities and most recently home care. For the past 10 years she has coached families and peers on the best methods for providing care while avoiding caregiver stress. She is known for having the ability to make a personal connection with people and be empathetic to their situation.
Recently Ms. Perzel has traveled the path so many people are currently experiencing. She is a caregiver for her mother. Previously she cared for her father as well, before moving him into a skilled nursing facility. Her personal experience has made her acutely aware of how naive she was to the depth of the spiritual, emotional, financial and physical impact of dementia on the patient as well as the family. Her passion was ignited to provide caregivers education and coaching to alleviate some of the despair and offer hope through knowledge and behavior interventions.
Gardening, art, travel, and cooking are just a few of Ms. Perzel’s hobbies. She is also a Master Gardener who volunteers at Tanglewood’s Arboretum in Clemmons NC, and is also is an active volunteer for the Indian Association of the Carolinas, where she organizes picnics and other special events such as a Health Fair. The Indian Association provides social events that support the Indian culture and expose others to the culture, usually through food and dance.
